AmsterDAM ITS FUN!

Had a day FILLED with fun in Amsterdam!

Silvia and I woke up early, alarm went off at 6:30am to be exact. We wanted to make sure that we got to the Anne Frank house early because there were so many rumors to go in the morning or go in the evening, or no matter what your going to wait 3 hours to get in. Well jokes on you guys, we got there at about 7:45, house opened at 9, so i went and got us some coffee and croissants while Silvia saved our place in line. It actually worked out perfectly and the wait wasn't terrible at all because it was so beautiful this morning that we just sat in the sun with a breeze blowing.

The Anne Frank house was nothing less than amazing! It was the one and only think on my list to do in Amsterdam and i did it and appreciated every second.
I do have to say, I'm so glad that I'm doing all of this now that I'm older because i just feel like i appreciate everything so much more. Being a high schooler, or a grade schooler going to places with history is cool, but all you really are thinking, not everyone is like this, but all your thinking is that your with your friends in a different state, or country and how fun is that, lets take pictures and say we went there. Now being 23 years old and doing all of this voluntarily, I can honestly say that its one billion times better. Everything I've seen and done has so much more impact on me. I'm taking time to read everything, plaques, posters, articles. I may not absorb it all right away, but its so interesting for me now. there was a Spanish group of girls and Silvia was telling me when they were speaking Spanish all the girls wanted to see was the room where Anne and Peter kissed and then they went on saying how they didn't care to see the rest of the house. WHAT!! are you stupid!!! I'm so thankful i was never THAT person.

After the Anne Frank house, i started to get hungry, as i only had a croissant and a small coffee for breakfast... I'm a growing girl and need more than that to keep my boyish figure. So as we headed to our next destination, we passes a cheese shop and i immediately said WAIT! we have to go in here! and i helped myself to every single sample of cheese they had in that room. I will say right now that there was a LOT of cheese in this store.. it took the edge off and i let her know i was good to go for another hour or so.

So off we went to Dam Square! This place was huge! lively with beautiful surrounding buildings and street performers. even a naked lady that had a sign that said `body art. euros for paint´and then you could take paint and paint her body... poor thing had her back to the sun and she was getting prettily crispy.. luckily her boobs were the first thing painted so i imagine those didn't get burned... Then there was a group of guys who did flips and jumps and did not know how to pump up a crowd. i mean they tried but it was pretty lame. anyway one of the guys flipped over 4 people which was pretty cool, but after that we were good to move on.

We headed to the train station for a quick bit because we both had to get train tickets. so Check that off my list of things to do for Thursdays trip to Berlin. After that we went and got some lunch and i had the BEST burger, it had a spicy whiskey sauce and this salami type meat on it.. ill probably have another tomorrow. and then.....

WARNING.... its a picture of condoms.

We hit up the Red Light district..... I'm so glad I'm not here with my parents because watching this kids walk by sex shops and other interesting´things, it just killed me.. not to mention, when I'm uncomfortable i start laughing.. some call that immaturity, i call it handling the situation to the best of my ability.... naturally i was giggling and laughing almost on this whole walk..

We did a lot of other things through the day, got some Nutella frozen yogurt which was pretty good. went back to Dam square and sat for a bit among the other common folk, foreigners, dread heads, and rebellious teens. then was a stop to the tulip market, lots of pretty flowers, did some window shopping and then finally made it to the IAMSTERDAM sign!

The building was already completely amazing, it had a tunnel through it for bikers (there are more bike riders than cars here, and my first day i almost got run over... they don't stop.. no mercy). Got some pictures by the big sign and had some fun before we walked to the long fountain/pond, finding the perfect spot and dipping our feet in the water to cool off from the sun. Took a bit of a snooze and relaxed for a bit from all the walking we did before walking back to our place and laid on the roof to enjoy more of the sun while i skyped my buddy Paul Poppe (met him and Andrew in killarney ireland and hung out with them again in Galway) and Silvia started her Anne Frank book.

Were now at our evening and thinking we will go out and about in the city.. thats very debatable seeing as were both in our cozy clothes already and have been laying in bed.... you never know though!

still loving amsterdam.
